Victoria Synchro's national stream athletes had a successful trip to Toronto for the Canadian Open Championships May 2-7, 2017. This national competition was for senior and junior level events. In addition it was also the fourth event in the FINA World Synchronized Swimming series this year and as such had international competitors in addition to competitors from Canadian Clubs. International and Domestic results were separate but they swam in the same events and it was really spectacular to see! Our team had the opportunity to watch and meet team Ukraine who competed in several events!
Our own athletes did very well! Victoria Synchro's Hannah Proud competed in Junior Solo with beautiful swims, finishing 8th in both prelims and finals. The Junior duet of Hannah Proud & Luiza Vasyleva demonstrated their skills swimming to an 8th place in prelims and 9th in finals. Our Senior duet of Mara Lambert-Wilson & Paige Wilson brought home a 6th place ribbon for their swim in the Senior duet event. And in the Free Combination event our Pirate & Mermaid themed Victoria Synchro combo swam to 8th place in prelims and then moved up to 7th in the finals!
Congratulations to all our hard working athletes and fantastic coaches!!

GO Canada GO!
Victoria Synchro's national stream age groups 13-15 and 11/12 recently returned from Winnipeg after competing in Synchro Canada's Espoir National Championships.
Our club had one 13-15 team, two 13-15 solos and one 11/12 solo competing in routines and all athletes competed in figures. The team swam to a Blues Brothers theme and ended up with a total championship score (routine score combined with their individual figures scores) which put them in 15th place in a field of 28 teams from across Canada. Our 11/12 competitor, Reed, swam beautifully ending up in 6th for her solo. In the 13-15 solo preliminaries Hannah ended up in 15th and Flynne in 2nd place. After moving on to the 13-15 solo finals Flynne won the silver medal with an incredible swim! Flynne also placed 4th in the 13-15 figures event.
It has been an incredible year for this group of girls with many personal bests achieved at Espoir clearly showing the amount of hard work, focus and dedication they have put in this season, congratulations everyone!
Victoria Synchro is one of 10 recipients in Canada to receive the 2016 Women in Sport Encouragement (WISE) Fund from the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS).
With the help of this fund we have been lucky to have coach Brenda Scott work with our 10&Under Provincial Stream and coaches. It has also allowed us to provide additional educational opportunities for our new young coaches, allowing them to continue to develop in this sport. Thank you CAAWS!
